Patient and Family Support Services

Patient Family Support Services (PFSS) brings evidence-based practice into cancer care to provide specialized services addressing the mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical effects of cancer at no cost to the patient.

As part of the multidisciplinary care team, PFSS is made up of highly skilled clinicians who assist in transforming the overall care experience through mutual partnership with patients, families, and additional providers. Services are offered at no cost to the patient with a clinician’s emphasis to be present, compassionate, committed, and equitable to all. Patient’s may utilize:

Our Patient and Family Support Services Program is one of the most comprehensive of its kind in the nation offering one-on-one interventions as well as clinician-led groups and special events in partnership with community organizations throughout the year.

Anyone on a patient’s care team can place a referral, or patients may get more information and self-refer by calling 734-647-8902 or emailing: Cancer-Support-Services@med.umich.edu. Calls and emails are typically monitored Monday – Friday from the hours of 8am-4pm.
