Social Work & Mental Health Treatment Team

Clinical Social Workers

It is common to experience emotional distress or difficulty coping with a cancer diagnosis.

Social workers provide emotional and social support to patients and their families during this difficult time.

Social workers are a team of licensed Masters-level mental health professionals that specialize in issues unique to cancer. As a member of your treatment team, they work collaboratively with all care teams to provide comprehensive treatment.

Patient Assistance Center (PAC)

The Patient Assistance Center (PAC), a satellite office of the Michigan Medicine Guest Assistance Program (GAP), is established for the unique needs of cancer patients. The PAC offers immediate access to social work services. Our skilled, licensed social workers alleviate barriers to care by bringing several services in a single location to help with practical matters such as social work resources, financial assistance for meals, lodging, transportation resources, community resources, help with financial aid applications and more.
