Weiser Center’s Jan Gamboa Wins U-M Patient Experience Award

The Evan Newport HOPE Awards were established to formally recognize the exceptional patient and family centered practices and initiatives that are happening each day at Michigan Medicine. The Staff members, teams, students, residents/fellows or faculty members who have demonstrated ongoing commitment to the patient and family experience are eligible.

Jan was nominated by Weiser Center co-director Todd Morgan, M.D.

“Jan has embodied in her work all of the principles that the HOPE award exemplifies,” Morgan wrote in his nomination. “In one short year, Jan Gamboa has revolutionized the patient experience for prostate cancer patients and their families by leading a process where prostate cancer patients receive prompt and empathetic support and guidance early on in their health care journey.”

Jan was honored at a ceremony in April during Patient Experience Week.
